TRAVEL: Paperbark Camp, Jervis Bay, NSW

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

Got escaping the city on your mind?

Glamp your way to NSW's Paperbark Camp and thank me later my foodie friends!

Located just under three hours drive, south of Sydney [in Jervis Bay] is a beautiful bush retreat giving guests the perfect local escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. A unique place like this can actually only be referred to as chic "camping" for grownups [without the uncomfortable nights sleep and endless set up/pack down time].

The drive down is fast, beautiful and scenic. Absolutely worth setting up a good playlist and making the most of the NSW road trip vibes. So many cute towns and places to stop along the way if you want to make an adventure of it.

Arriving into Paperbark - my whole body started to unwind and slide into real-time holiday mode. You know that feeling, which only the magic chemistry of the right time and place can make happen for you. That true feeling of holidays - I was instantly there from the moment we pulled in!

Both the locale of Jervis Bay and Paperbark Camp share a connected vibe. One that is chic but relaxed. Luxe but approachable. Sophisticated yet grounded.

The accom hits every checklist your adult camping dream might have. Luxe safari style tents. Polished hard wood floors. Eco-solar lighting. Elevated positioning off the ground. A beautiful outlook amongst the trees. And the highlight - a deep, free standing bath in the open air ensuite, complete with eucalypt and paperbark trees swaying in the background of the best soak location Ive ever experienced.

Foodies will be at home here in every way. All meals are served in The Gunyah [aboriginal for meeting place] which is the true heart of the camp, keeping on with the theme of being set on an open deck, amongst beautiful trees. Given I believe breaking bread is what truly brings us all together in this lifetime - it really did feel like the heart of the stay.

The gourmet experience itself is right up my alley. Simple, local and delicious.

Hearty, wholesome breakfasts set you up for a day coastal exploration along white sand beaches, short scenic drives and sweet seaside village. Be sure to borrow a canoe and paddle to Huskisson stopping along the way to enjoy a picnic prepared by the Paperbark kitchen team.

Return, after some local adventure, to pre-drinks by the fire pit and a tasty, well thought out three course meal from the Paperbark Chefs. Be assured the good flavours just keeping coming, course by course.

I've been wanting to visit here for so long and Im so glad I did. It lived up to all the hype in my mind and I absolutely think you should put this place on your NSW road trip list asap!

Remember life is about three things - good food, good wine and good times! And that's exactly what Paperbark gave me over a long spring weekend.

Happy Weekending everyone!
