Let's face it, when isn't it Margarita time? I spent a month in Mexico a couple of years back and my drink of choice was the Margarita. In the heat of the day you need refreshment and salt replacement and this ticked both boxes. For this recipe, I've avoided the need to use a cocktail shaker by repurposing an old coffee jar that was also doubling as a vinaigrette mixer.
I hope you give it a go. Enjoy.
50ml Tequila blanco
30ml Triple Sec
20ml lime juice, ideally freshly squeezed
Fresh lime, thinly sliced for garnish
Salt flakes for the lip of the glass
1. Put your glass into the freezer.
2. In an old coffee jar (cocktail shaker if you have one), add all the ingredients except the salt and fresh lime. Shake vigorously.
3. Remove the glass from the freezer and using some of the fresh lime wet the lip of the glass and rotate through the salt.
4. Strain the margarita into the glass, garnish with the lime and enjoy. Responsibly of course.
