Bandari Style Sausage Sizzle

Meet the Bandari sausage. A Southern Iranian street food from the port city of Bandar Abbas. This can be knocked up in no time at all and uses easily accessible ingredients and makes a delicious change from the regular hotdog. The use of turmeric and chilli combined with tomato paste as opposed to tomato sauce or ketchup really elevates this simple dish into something tasty and moreish. Play around with the amount of chilli you like. Enjoy for breakfast or if you don't need to go shopping at Bunnings for anything. I served mine with dill pickles, olives and coriander.

Serves 2-3

2-3 Frankfurter Sausages, sliced

1/2 brown onion, sliced

1/4 tsp turmeric

1/8 tsp chilli powder

2 tbsp tomato paste

2 bread rolls

1 tbsp olives, sliced

2 dill pickles, sliced

Coriander for garnish

Salt and Pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

1.) Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium high heat and fry the frankfurters and onions until golden.

2.) Sprinkle over the turmeric and chilli powder and cook for a minute then add the tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper and cook until the sauce is hot.

3.) Remove from the heat, assemble your rolls with olives, dill pickles and coriander and enjoy.
